PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL WRITING

About Me

My name is Nadia Najera, and I am a 34-year-old mother of five. I use she/her pronouns. I was born and raised in Sonora, Mexico, and when I was eight years old, I moved to Arizona, where I lived for about ten years. After graduating from high school, I moved to Roswell, New Mexico, where I have now lived for 16 years. I am currently working toward my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. I work for CASA Kids as a Foster Parent Navigator, where I support foster parents in our community by helping them find the assistance and resources they need throughout their fostering journey. I also help low-income families find community resources and provide financial assistance to help prevent homelessness and utility disconnections.

In my free time, I enjoy thrift shopping, taking fun trips with my husband and children, crafting, and sewing. One of my unpopular opinions is that coffee is actually nasty. I think many people, including myself, add so much to their coffee because we do not necessarily love the taste—we just love the caffeine! One of my biggest personal goals is to become financially stable so that I can provide a better future for my children. Academically, my goal is to complete my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with honors. Professionally, my husband and I hope to eventually own and manage our own company.

Writing has always been a challenge for me because English has been my least favorite subject. I do not consider myself the strongest writer, and I have struggled with writing in previous composition courses. Because of this, I sometimes find English difficult and do not always enjoy it. I hope this course will help me become a more efficient, professional, and confident writer. I want to improve my writing skills so that I can communicate my ideas clearly and feel more confident in academic and professional settings. I also hope to learn skills that I can use in my future career.

If I were showing this site to a potential employer, I would want that person to be a CEO of a large financial company. I believe a potential employer in the financial industry would be interested in seeing strong communication, professionalism, leadership, organization, business knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well with others. These are all skills I hope to continue developing through my education, work experience, and future career. Ultimately, I want to use my degree and experiences to build a successful career and eventually own and manage a company with my husband.
