Project Three

Creating an Emergency Foster Placement Program in New Mexico

Memorandum

The purpose of my project was to address the problem of foster children in New Mexico having to sleep in CYFD offices when there are not enough foster homes. My solution was to create an emergency placement program with licensed foster families who can provide short-term care. I think my project achieves its purpose because it explains the problem and provides a possible solution that could give children a safer place to stay.

My audience is local CYFD leadership or foster care agency directors because they have the ability to make changes to emergency placements. I chose a written proposal because it allows me to clearly explain the problem, solution, costs, and benefits. This medium gives my audience information they can review when considering the proposal.

I would like my instructor to know that this topic is important to me because children in foster care deserve safe and appropriate places to stay. I tried to focus on a realistic solution while also considering challenges such as cost and finding enough foster families.

I have also made progress on revising my previous projects, SLO reflections, and ePortfolio. I have been working on improving my writing and making my reflections more detailed. I am also organizing my ePortfolio and making sure it shows my progress throughout the course.
