Subject: Final Course Reflection Memo
This course has helped me improve my writing, communication, and ability to create projects for different audiences. Throughout the semester, I completed three projects and worked on my ePortfolio. Each project was different, but they all helped me understand how important it is to think about my audience, purpose, and the best way to share information. I learned that good communication is not just about writing words. It is also about making sure the message is clear and easy for the audience to understand.
One accomplishment I am proud of is completing Project One, which was a video about making budget-friendly bread pudding with butterscotch sauce. I learned how to explain a process through a video and make the information easy to follow. I also learned how important it is to include details that people may need when following instructions. For example, one of my classmates gave me feedback that I should add the baking times to my video. I used that feedback to make the video more helpful. This taught me that feedback from others can make a project clearer and more useful.
For Project Two, I learned more about how writing and visuals can work together to communicate a message. This project helped me think more carefully about my tone, purpose, and how my choices could affect the way an audience understands my message. I also became more comfortable with revising my work. Before this class, I sometimes felt like my first draft needed to be almost perfect. I learned that revising is a normal and important part of writing. Going back to my work and making changes helped me improve my final projects.
Project Three was especially meaningful to me because I focused on foster children in New Mexico who may not have an appropriate place to stay when foster homes are unavailable. I created a proposal for an emergency placement program that could provide children with a safe place to stay while CYFD finds a more permanent placement. My background working with foster families helped me understand why this problem is important. I am proud that I was able to take something I care about and turn it into a professional proposal with a possible solution. This project also showed me that writing can be used to bring attention to real problems and suggest ways to make things better.
Another accomplishment was creating and organizing my ePortfolio. It gave me a place to show my projects and the progress I made throughout the course. Looking back at my work helped me see how much I learned during the semester. Overall, this class helped me become a better writer and communicator. I learned to consider my audience, understand my purpose, use feedback, revise my work, and choose the best way to present information. These skills will help me in my future classes, my career, and my work with foster families and children. I know I can use what I learned in this course in many different parts of my life.
